”The Korean Office for Overseas Koreans (Commissioner Lee Sang-deok) will hold its first policy meeting tomorrow (29th) to discuss support measures for the domestic settlement of adoptees.
This event, co-hosted with the Global Overseas Adoptees’ Link (GOAL), is a follow-up to the opening of the "Dedicated Counseling Desk for Adoptees," which the Office launched last month.
Around 60 participants, including Lee Sung-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun District, Kim Sang-hee, Director of Population and Child Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Yu Jae-hoon, Advisor to the Global Overseas Adoptees’ Link, along with domestic and international adoptees and experts, will gather to discuss adoption policies, program directions, and explore field-centered support measures.
Additionally, the meeting will feature presentations on various topics related to adoptees, including "Operational Cases of the Dedicated Desk by the Office for Overseas Koreans and This Year's Plans for Adoptee Support," and "The Family Search Project by the National Center for the Rights of the Child.”
Commissioner Lee Sang-deok stated that this meeting serves as an opportunity to listen to the real difficulties faced by adoptees and to identify and promote policies and programs for adoptees and their children. He emphasized the Office's commitment to providing practical and effective support for adoptees.”
