Commemorating The Historic Movement Of All Korean Adoption Agency Files To NCRC Starting July 19th, 2025.
As of today, July 19th in Korea, the transfer of adoption files from ALL Korean Adoption Agencies to the NCRC’s temporary storage facility in Gyeonggi-do—about an hour north of central Seoul—is officially set to begin.
Of course, this won’t be a quick or easy process. And with the historic rainfall currently hitting Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, we have serious doubts that the transfer will actually begin on schedule. Still, this is a major milestone that has significance for all of us.
We just want to take a moment to acknowledge how far we’ve come together. We’re incredibly proud of our community—for the years of effort, in so many different forms, to bring truth to light. Whether you’ve advocated publicly, supported others quietly, bravely requested a birth family search and your Korean documents, or simply been part of the conversation—you’ve contributed to the Korean Adoptee community.
The road ahead, especially with birth family searches through NCRC, will likely be very difficult. But as always, our strength lies in sharing knowledge and supporting each other. That’s the only way that we can move forward.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and one another.
The page below can be used as a guide for the future - NCRC will re-open to accept new birth family search requests - known as a “Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure” - as of September 16th, 2025.
