How To Book An Appointment At NCRC’s Two Locations in Korea.
It appears that NCRC now allows Korean Adoptees to book appointments at its TWO locations online in English. Previously, there was only an option in Korean to do so.
Please follow the steps below for booking appointments at NCRC’s TWO different locations. For address and contact information for ALL locations related to NCRC, please see:

Please note that ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files may move AGAIN — this time, to the Seongam Branch of the National Archives, in the first half of 2026. We do not know the exact timeline of this move, but please be advised that this may impact your ability to visit NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, where ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files are (for now) stored. NCRC will likely NOT alert Adoptees about when exactly this anticipated move will begin.

UPDATE — February 13th, 2026:
Please note that the planned transfer of ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files from their current location at NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do to the Seongam Branch of the National Archives in the first half of 2026 may impact Korean Adoptees who plan to visit NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility during this timeframe.
NCRC will likely be treating the former Korean Adoption Agency files in its possession with chemical pesticides for about one month, *per the requirements of the Seongam Branch of the National Archives. Please note that this process has the likelihood of destroying some documents.
*Please note that NCRC could have opted to more safely treat the documents, prior to their transfer to the Seongam Branch of the National Archives, but that this would require a 4 year treatment process. It appears that NCRC has elected to use a more aggressive chemical pesticide treatment process which will take about one month to complete, which will likely damage or destroy certain types of documents.
Please be advised that NCRC may simply close its Temporary Storage Facility with very little advance notice in order to treat the documents with chemical pesticides.

STEP 1:
Submit a Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure Request through the KAS website first. You will not be allowed to make an appointment with NCRC without this first step.
For information on this process, please see:
ALL Adoptees Start Here! General Birth Family Search Steps Through NCRC — Overview
In particular, be sure to reference the section on the page above titled:
NEW!
Step 3 Continued:
Step By Step Guide For Submitting Your “Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure” To NCRC via the KAS Website."
+
STEP 2:
Browse to the KAS (Korea Adoption Services) site which NCRC uses:
https://www.kadoption.or.kr/en/
You will need to log in to be able to make an appointment.
+
STEP 3:
Please note that NCRC currently has TWO locations.
Location 1:
NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do.
*This is currently where ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files are stored. If you want to look at your original, physical Korean Adoption Agency file, this is where you want to go. Please note that NCRC will likely NOT allow you to take photographs of your file. However, you will be able to take notes, so take pen and paper.
It’s going to kind of suck, because many of your documents will be in Korean, which most Korean Adoptees cannot read. Try taking a translator if you can, but it’s unclear if this is allowed by NCRC.
You can also visit with up to 3 people, according to NCRC’s website. This location is about an hour northwest of the main part of Seoul. This location is tricky to get to and the building is difficult to navigate, so be sure to research this location BEFORE you go! (See address link below).
If you actually want to discuss a COPY of your file with an NCRC worker, you will have to make an appointment at:
Location 2:
NCRC’s Main Office in Seoul
*Please note that this location DOES NOT have ANY ORIGINAL former Korean Adoption Agency files! It’s pointless to visit this location unless you:
A. Wish to discuss your file with an NCRC social worker. You will only be able to discuss a COPY of your adoption file at this location — not the ORIGINAL.
OR
B. Have a disability and are unable to visit Location 1 (above). Location 1 has access challenges for those with disabilities. (See address link below).
*Please note NCRC’s Main Office in Seoul does NOT have WiFi.

For address information on ALL current locations related to NCRC, please see:

Depending on WHICH of NCRC’s two locations you would like to visit, make your selection under the “Visit Reservation” dropdown pictured below.
”Records Temporary Archives” = NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do
”NCRC Office” = NCRC’s Main Office in Seoul
If you want to make reservations for BOTH locations:
FIRST make your reservation for “Records Temporary Archives” in order to view your REAL documents.
SECOND make your reservation at “NCRC Office”.
+
STEP 4:
You will be taken to a Calendar Appointment page. Be sure to check the agreement indicated in the graphic below.
+
STEP 5:
Select an available date and time on the Calendar. Available dates are in GREEN.
From there, you will see a pop up screen and prompted to enter personal info. This is where you select a date and time for your appointment. Please be sure to NOTE the date and time you select, since NCRC does NOT confirm this appointment date and time by email!
You can try to book an appointment up to 2 months in advance.
Please note that NCRC only offers 3 appointments per day / 3 times per week! Note that the SUMMER is when the most Adoptees go to Korea, so please be advised. IKAA in October 2026 will also impact the available number of appointments in Fall 2026.
+
STEP 6:
Complete the pop-up screen, following the prompts.
BE SURE TO SCREEN CAPTURE or otherwise NOTE your FINAL date / time selection, because NCRC does NOT SEND YOU AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION of your appointment!
*Please note that the appointment times are in military time.
+
STEP 7:
You can sort of check on the status of your appointment, but it does NOT list the date / time you selected! For this reason, you need to screencapture the appointment date / time you selected in the previous screen.
Under the My Page dropdown, select “My Visit Management” to see the screen below.
+
STEP 8:
Cross your fingers that you actually got an appointment, since you will NOT receive an immediate confirmation email from NCRC. It may take NCRC several DAYS to confirm your appointment by email.
If you do NOT screencapture or note your appointment time, you will NOT know what date / time your appointment is on!
Apparently, S. Korea is a country which can write drone messages in the sky and produce international K-Pop, but cannot make a website that provides immediate email confirmations of appointments.
Good luck!
