Since we have Acronym Salad on our minds, we thought we’d point out a source of perennial confusion — Adoptees are forever confusing KSS (Korea Social Service) with KWS (Korea Welfare Society). KSS and KWS were two SEPARATE Korean Adoption Agencies!
KSS (Korea Social Service) is NOT the same as KWS (Korea Welfare Society).

KSS (Korea Social Service) ONLY adopted to the US, Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland between 1964-2012.
KSS adopted children to the US, Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland through a specific list of Partner Western Adoption Agencies.
*KSS did NOT regularly adopt to Sweden, Canada, or Belgium.

KWS (Korea Welfare Society) was formerly SWS (Social Welfare Society) was formerly CPS (Child Placement Service).
KWS adopted to the US, Sweden, Canada, and maybe Belgium. We truthfully do not know as much about KWS / SWS / CPS as we do about KSS.
But we DO know that KSS (Korea Social Service) did NOT regularly adopt to Sweden, Canada, or Belgium.
