Thank you to a KSS Adoptee who recently let me know through a Zoom that he is about to experience a reunion with the maternal side of his family in Korea.

This KSS Adoptee first reached out to me through Paperslip in April 2025, having found Paperslip through a Google search, and I helped him to complete his birth family search request forms for KSS, prior to the transfer of all former Korean Adoption Agency files to NCRC on July 19th, 2025.

He was able to obtain his formerly secret Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary this way.

He also joined the private Facebook group for KSS (Korea Social Service) Adoptees ONLY called KSS Cribmates. He paid attention to the information posted there and communicated well with me regarding his steps.

He has been doggedly working the steps on Paperslip to request and obtain information from both KSS and NCRC since first reaching out to Paperslip in 2025, and recently he also worked with a reputable NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Korea for his visit to NCRC's Main Office in Seoul (which is one of TWO of NCRC's locations). He was able to obtain information through repeated requests to both KSS (before the file transfer to NCRC) and to NCRC (after the file transfer to NCRC) which culminated in his being able to find members of his biological Korean family.

It is worth noting that Adoptees may submit a new Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure request to NCRC via the KAS website ONCE PER YEAR (please see related links below this section). His submission of multiple requests to both KSS (before the file transfer to NCRC) and NCRC (after the file transfer to NCRC) from 2025 - 2026 resulted in his being able to obtain important information for his search.

We recently spoke via Zoom, and he expressed his thanks for giving him a place to start in his search through Paperslip. It was clear that he wanted to share this information with me so I could pass it along to others, helping to support them in their own future birth family search journeys.

The fact that he paid attention to Paperslip’s instructions and advice, followed them closely, communicated well and consistently with me, and worked the steps all contributed to his ability to obtain information relevant for his successful birth family search.

Soon he will meet members of his maternal family and I definitely wish him all the best!
