KSS Adoptee Taekyung Tanja In Wol Sørensen discusses her new documentary, “Hjemsøgt” / “Homesick” in “The Hankyoreh” (see link below).
I helped her to obtain key evidence from KSS which helped her to obtain a TRC 2 Decision in her case in June 2025.
Specifically, I helped her to obtain her “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” in 2022, and her birth certificate in 2025.
The Hankyoreh article (linked below) states:
“While making the film, Sørensen learned that Korea’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC 2) was investigating victims of illegal adoption practices. When she contacted the adoption agency (KSS) in search of her birth mother, she was able to confirm that official documents had been falsified to facilitate the adoption process.
Her case was among 56 cases in which the commission acknowledged human rights violations in June 2025.
‘I was lucky because I had both the official and unofficial documents, which allowed me to prove that the records had been falsified,’ she said, emphasizing that receiving an official apology from the state was not the be-all and end-all.”

The “official” document she is referring to is the KSS specific “English Adoptive Child Study Summary”.
The “unofficial documents” refer mainly to the KSS specific “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”.
For context:
Prior to the July 19th, 2025 transfer of ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files — including those of KSS — to NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonngi-do, KSS forced Adoptees to request their documents ONE AT A TIME — and to wait MONTHS for each request to be fulfilled, BEFORE Adoptees could submit ANOTHER request for ONE MORE DOCUMENT. Thus it could take years to get copies of just a few documents from KSS. This was a humiliating and degrading process for KSS Adoptees. And KSS itself did NOT tell Adoptees how to request and obtain their formerly secret Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary — nor did they ever regularly provide Adoptees with a copy of their complete file. Were it not for my years of FREE work through Paperslip between 2021-2025, most KSS Adoptees would have had to wait until AFTER the July 19th, 2025 transfer to NCRC to obtain from NCRC the formerly secret Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary, which KSS did NOT regularly share with Adoptees until myself and one other KSS Adoptee accidentally figured out how to obtain it through email in July 2021. In fact, since Adoptees were not allowed to make new Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure requests through NCRC until September 2025 following the first transfer — and requests to NCRC typically took between five months to ONE YEAR to fulfill in this time period — this would have been FAR TOO LATE for TRC 2, which concluded at the end of 2025.
But because my efforts through Paperslip in helping KSS Adoptees to obtain evidence PRECEDED the TRC 2 investigation into Overseas Adoption (2022-2025), my volunteer assistance helped an untold number of KSS Adoptees obtain and submit critical evidence in their cases to TRC 2 before their 2022 deadline. Some, like Sørensen, were among the just 56 Adoptees to have received a Decision in their TRC 2 cases as a result.
Even the arch conservative PPP former Chairwoman of TRC 2, Park Sun-Young, declared during the live press coverage of the TRC 2 conference for the March 26th, 2025 Interim Report, that cases with evidence like the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” were the “easy” cases — in other words, the easy ones to rule on / provide a Decision for, because there was such CLEAR evidence of document falsification in KSS Adoptees’ cases with this evidence (I am paraphrasing).
This is why I state that KSS evidence, such as the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”, which frequently contained birth parent information which the often (though not always) falsified “English Adoptive Child Study Summary” omitted, became the evidentiary backbone of the March 26th, 2025 TRC 2 Interim Report — and indeed, of TRC 2 itself.
I walked hundreds of KSS Adoptees through KSS’ painstaking and dehumanizing process between July 2021-July 2025.
Sørensen was just one of hundreds of KSS Adoptees who were able to obtain their documents from KSS through their painful procedure thanks to my volunteer efforts through Paperslip.
Since many of the Adoptees I helped with this KSS process were Danish, much of the evidence I helped them to obtain ended up supporting the TRC 2 effort.
From what I have heard, Sørensen kindly credits me in the film. I helped her to obtain some archival material for her documentary.
