REAL (*COLLOQUIAL) DOCUMENT TITLES FOR KSS ADOPTEES ONLY:
“English Adoptive Child Study Summary”
“Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”
KSS frequently used the term “Adoptive Child Study Summary” (in addition to the term “Case Study Record” in early 1960s KSS documents) on the English version of this document provided to adoptive parents prior to a child’s adoption from KSS.
No one knew (or actively publicized) that KSS kept a SECRET version of this document, which myself and one other KSS Adoptee accidentally figured out that KSS referred to as the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” in July 2021. I had discovered this file in the back of my KSS file folder in 2018, but the Hanja title of this document does NOT translate directly to “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”.
Therefore, I coined the terms “English Adoptive Child Study Summary” and “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” to differentiate these two KSS specific document types in July 2021. Between July 2021-July 2025, I helped hundreds of KSS Adoptees to request and obtain this formerly secret document from KSS. If a KSS Adoptee did not know of this document, nor the EXACT TITLE of the document to request, KSS would neither inform the Adoptee of the document’s existence, nor provide the Adoptee with a copy of this formerly secret form.
This research into KSS’ documents and inner workings is the bedrock of Paperslip.org — though a great deal more research followed — and I do not take kindly to its plagiarism, particularly when that plagiarism misleads Adoptees.

FAKE, PARTLY AMENDED TERMS BASED ON THOSE DISCOVERED BY PAPERSLIP, USED BY PLAGIARISTS WHO FALSELY APPLY THESE TERMS TO ALL KOREAN ADOPTEES:
“English Child Study Summary”
“Korean Child Study Summary”
These exact terms were NOT used by KSS nor by ANY OTHER Korean Adoption Agency.

If you see the terms “Korean Child Study Summary” and “English Child Study Summary” used outside of Paperslip.org, these are plagiarized and slightly altered terms based off of my original research into KSS specific documents. The use of these slightly altered terms, which are FALSELY characterized by a few others as applying to either the paperwork of KSS or the paperwork of ALL Korean Adoptees unethically misleads Adoptees by causing them to believe that these document title are accurate and that this terminology is applicable to NON-KSS Adoptees.
However, this partly amended terminology is based upon documents which are ONLY SPECIFIC TO Korea Social Service (KSS)!
To give some idea of the SCALE of MISUNDERSTANDING this false terminology can cause, KSS only processed around 20,000 Korean Adoptees between 1964-2012. KSS was by far the SMALLEST of the 4 major Korean Adoption Agencies! However, some estimate that there were over 250,000 Korean Adoptees processed overall between the 1950s through the 2000s by ALL of the 4 major Korean Adoption Agencies combined.
The VAST MAJORITY of these ~250,000 Korean Adoptees were NOT KSS! Therefore the terminology which has been plagiarized from my research into KSS specific documents DOES NOT APPLY to the vast majority of Korean Adoptees!
I have NEVER seen a NON-KSS document titled or referred to in original adoption documents as the “Korean Child Study Summary” or the “English Child Study Summary”. These are partly amended terms used by plagiarists who do not wish to acknowledge that I discovered and coined the ACTUAL terminology used by KSS itself throughout the majority of its history, from 1964-2012.
These researchers have NOT done THEIR OWN research into the document titles of their own specific Korean Adoption Agencies (or the Agencies of their parents). They therefore lazily ape the work I have done specifically with respect to KSS, and misleadingly apply this terminology to NON-KSS Adoptees.
The bedrock of my research through Paperslip.org is the original discovery of the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” in the back of my KSS adoption file in 2018. Myself and one other KSS Adoptee who prefers to remain anonymous accidentally figured out that KSS called this document the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” in July 2021.
I subsequently volunteered thousands of hours to help hundreds of KSS Adoptees to request and obtain this formerly secret document between July 2021-July 2025. Even after I discovered this document and coined the term for it, KSS would NOT provide this document for Adoptees unless they specifically requested the document with the EXACT TITLE “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”. If a KSS Adoptee used the WRONG document title, KSS would NOT provide the document!
I coined the term “English Adoptive Child Study Summary” to differentiate this document from the document I coined as the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” in July 2021. This has been well documented here:
How Two US KSS Adoptees Figured Out How To Obtain KSS’ Formerly Secret ”Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”
In July 2021.
Someone who previously plagiarized our KSS K-Number research has attempted to try to avoid crediting me or Paperslip with coining the terms “English Adoptive Child Study Summary” and “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” by referring to these documents as the slightly amended “Korean Child Study Summary” and “English Child Study Summary”. Others have acted as though ALL Korean Adoptees from ALL of the major Korean Adoption Agency had documents with this title. This is patently FALSE.
ONLY KSS used the EXACT terms “English Adoptive Child Study Summary” and “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary” or anything remotely similar.
Ironically, when other Adoptees reference this plagiarized and misleadingly altered terminology, they don’t credit the original plagiarist as the source of the information, but they inadvertently ape it, thus further spreading MISINFORMATION.
The 4 major Korean Adoption Agencies each had their own SPECIFIC TERMINOLOGY and SPECIFIC DOCUMENT TITLES for their own paperwork.
ONLY KSS used the specific terms “English Adoptive Child Study Summary” and “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”. These were NOT to our knowledge terms used by Holt, Eastern (ESWS / ECWS), or Korea Welfare Society (KWS / SWS / CPS).
To suggest otherwise is to lead Korean Adoptees who are NOT KSS Adoptees on a wild goose chase looking for documents with titles which DO NOT APPLY to their documents!
If you are going to plagiarize our work — at least get the information RIGHT!

Please Note:
ALL Korean Adoption Agencies had “Shadow Files”. These were documents, mostly in Hanja and / or Korean, which recorded more details about a child’s past than did their English facing documents.
It would be more appropriate for the aforementioned plagiarists to use the term “English facing documents” than the terminology the are currently using. This would be slightly more accurate, as ALL the Korean Adoption Agencies had “Korean facing documents” and “English facing documents”.
However, even this terminology is misleading, as both types of documents can contain a mixture of Hanja / Korean and English.
Let’s say that ALL Korean Adoption Agencies kept a file which was hidden from Adoptees, and a file which was shared with Western adoptive parents and with Adoptees. Plagiarists can come up with their OWN terminology for that.
The important thing to note is that ONLY KSS called a central “shadow file” document the “Korean Adoptive Child Study Summary”. This is not a term broadly applicable to any other Korean Adoption Agency for their shadow files.
Please see:
What is a KSS “Shadow File”? Is there more than one type of “Shadow File”?
Paperslip.org is unique because I have done an extraordinarily deep dive on KSS specific documents. This has not been done to the same extent by Adoptees from the other major Korean Adoption Agencies.
Korean Adoptee researchers from OTHER Korean Adoption Agencies are welcome to do THEIR OWN research. Just don’t plagiarize MINE and MISLEAD Adoptees!
Thank you.
