Mapping KSS’ System.

When people refer to “KSS”, they may often be referring to different things.

Below we try to clarify the MANY aspects and physical locations (former and current) of locations related to KSS, its network of “Feeder Orphanages” and Maternity Clinics and Hospitals (many of which are unknown), and NCRC and the Seongam Branch of the National Archives.

People often associate the following terms with KSS in Seoul:

KSS (Korea Social Service)
K.S.S. Receiving Home
KSS campus

Please note that KSS tore down its former campus in 2016.

From 2016-2025, KSS operated “Post Adoption Services” from a small white building on the border of KSS’ former campus. We do not know how much longer this building will continue to exist. This is the location indicated here on Google Maps.

KSS relied upon a large network of “Feeder Orphanages” in and outside of Seoul.

KSS children could have come from ANYWHERE in Korea. However, there were some main hubs for children, and specific “Feeder Orphanages” were known suppliers of children for KSS.

Maternity Clinics and Hospitals.

KSS relied upon a large network of Birth Clinics / Maternity Clinics and Hospitals for children.

Depending on your case and when you were born, your birth clinic / maternity clinic or hospital may no longer exist. This is true for many KSS Adoptees who were born in the 1980s and prior. However, this can be on a case by case basis.

For those born in the 1990s and later, your birth clinic / maternity clinic or hospital MAY still exist.

It usually takes a lot of sleuthing with a Korean translator to find these places.

Below is a list of the ones we already know of:
