Trick for removing the NCRC password from the PDF file containing scans of your former Korean Adoption Agency paperwork.

YOUR NCRC FILE, which comes as a Password protected PDF.

To REMOVE the password, go to File > PRINT, and then Save as PDF.  Then Save the file to your desktop (or any folder you prefer). This removes the password from the PDF.

When NCRC fulfills your Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure request, they will upload a PASSWORD protected PDF of your former Korean Adoption Agency files to the KAS website where you submitted your request. (Please note that NCRC does NOT really notify you by email when your request has been fulfilled. You just have to keep checking the KAS website online).

So that you do NOT lose access to your file if you forget or lose the NCRC PASSWORD, as soon as you receive your file from NCRC, go to PRINT the file, but instead of printing, select “Save as PDF”. Be sure to SAVE the file somewhere on your computer. This will remove the password from your PDF.

If you LOSE the PASSWORD to your file, NCRC will probably NOT scan your file again!You should also regularly PRINT a copy or two of your NCRC file as a backup, and keep this in a SAFE if possible. Backup your NCRC file in as many ways as you can. There is no guarantee you would ever get it again if you lose access.
