In light of the upcoming SECOND transfer of ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files from NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility to the National Archives, we have updated some important posts.
Above: Paperslip’s graphic based on a screenshot from Google Maps, illustrating the distance between NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do and the Seongam Branch of the National Archives.
ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files are currently stored at NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do. However, Korea’s National Archives requires that any documents entering their system be treated for bugs / pests. This means that prior to the upcoming transfer of ALL former Korean Adoption Agency files from NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do to the Seongam Branch of the National Archives, at least SOME of these documents will be treated for pests.
We do not know how disruptive this transfer may be to Adoptees’ future visits to NCRC’s two locations in Seoul.
Please note that NCRC has a SECOND location: NCRC’s Main Office in Seoul. This is where Adoptees can book an appointment to pick up a COPY of their file. We’ve posted MANY times about the procedure for doing this, so be sure to look it up on our site.

In the post above from one year ago on October 12th, 2025, I was right about when the best time would be to submit a Petition for Adoption Information Disclosure request to NCRC:
“I really cannot say when it will be a good time to submit requests to NCRC...no one knows for certain what will happen yet. It’s most likely best to submit a request to NCRC starting Spring 2026 — but that is just my best guess.”
I’m glad I followed my own advice and visited NCRC’s Temporary Storage Facility in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do in March 2026.
